U.S. expansion & market research intern

TABS is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Market Research Intern for a full-time, 6-month dedicated research project. This position is 100% focused on strategic market research, trend analysis, and ecosystem mapping to directly influence TABS’s market and partnership strategies. The intern will not be responsible for regular administrative tasks related to daily operations within a business development, relations and marketing team.

Position overview

At the end of the internship, the intern will have gained a deep understanding of international business and market research, while helping shape the business development strategy of TABS. The intern will also be exposed to a diverse team and make valuable connections. 

 

Key responsibilities

Industry analysis & strategic positioning (Part I)

  • Map and analyze the primary focus industries of major economic development agencies, trade organizations, financial institutions, and foreign consulates (e.g., RVO, BOM, Rabobank).
  • Evaluate internal TABS client industry data alongside macroeconomic trend analysis to pinpoint high-growth sectors expanding into the US.
  • Develop data-backed recommendations on which core industries TABS should prioritize for future business development.

Global partner ecosystem mapping

  • Collaborate with the Relations and Marketing teams to identify, classify, and map international trade organizations, chambers of commerce, and business support networks per target country.
  • Build a structured database of regional partners to strengthen TABS's transatlantic network and joint outreach capabilities.

Geographic & market expansion trends (Part II analysis)

  • Conduct comprehensive research into international market-entry trends, identifying countries with the highest levels of US expansion activity.
  • Analyze country-specific expansion drivers, regulatory environments, and trade volume patterns.
  • Deliver a final strategic framework outlining priority focus countries where TABS should concentrate its market expansion efforts.
 

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated their studies in International Business, Business Administration, Economics, Market Research, or related fields. This Internship may be part of a school internship opportunity, if this role fits the school’s requirements.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills with the ability to turn complex data into actionable business strategy.
  • Keen interest in transatlantic trade, foreign direct investment, and corporate market entry strategies.
  • Self-starter capable of managing a structured, long-term research project independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch or additional languages is a plus given key partner profiles.
